A Deaf cartographer who reads storm pressure through her palms must redraw an evacuation route while a supercell erases every road marker in a mountain county.

The story
Maia Reed builds raised weather maps for communities that cannot rely on aging sirens. When a sudden supercell floods the official route, she and volunteer radio operator Owen Pike cross the county ahead of the storm, embossing a new path into wet asphalt and guiding three isolated neighborhoods toward high ground.
